FLOTILLA 58 MEMBERSHIP PROFILE
Flotilla 58 was founded as the Old Colony
Flotilla as part of the Hub Division 5 located in Boston Harbor
in Massachusetts Bay.
Flotilla 58 currently has 25 members. The flotilla
has two qualified Master Instructors, five Instructors, eight
Vessel Examiners, four Coxswains, six Crewpersons, two Private
Aid Verifiers, and one Career Counselor. Members are active
at the District 1NR, Division 5 and the Flotilla 58 Auxiliary
organizational levels. The flotilla has eight operational
facilities at its docks or at nearby yacht clubs.
Flotilla 58 conducts Boating Safety and GPS
Navigation classes in the Spring, Summer, and Fall at the
Old Colony Yacht Club. Our most experienced instructors have
been in boating for over thirty years.
The Flotilla performs Vessel Safety Checks
at the Rainbow Park boat ramp in Dorchester and at various
Yacht Clubs and marinas in the Boston Harbor area.
Flotilla 58 is very active in the ANT-Boston
Aids to Navigation Program in the Boston Harbor AOR. Members
have adopted six bridges and have checked and reported on
numerous Federal and Private Aids to Navigation during the
2000 season.
